This legislation requires insurance companies to ensure parity between mental health care and physical health care.

The legislation also authorizes The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) to coordinate initiatives to assist local communities in keeping people with serious mental illness out of county and municipal jails and detention facilities.
