This bill would make several changes to the Achieving Connectivity Everywhere Act (ACE) passed by the Georgia Legislature in 2018 to create the Georgia Broadband Deployment Initiative (GBDI) under the Department of Community Affairs (DCA). Since that time GBDI has been tasked wtih the mapping of unserved areas, and administering a broadband ready certification program, as well as a funding program through the OneGeorgia Authority, subject to appropriations by the General Assembly.

This bill adds a definition to recognize "unserved locations" to offer greater specificity beyond an unserved area or census block. This bill would expand the list of eligible providers to include all companies certified by the Public Service Commission (PSC), in addition to public bodies authorized under current law.
