This bill establishes a process for handling the death of a candidate on the ballot in a non-partisan election. If the death occurs after the candidate's name has been on the ballot, the candidate's name would remain on the ballot and all votes would be counted. In the event of the candidate receiving enough votes to win the election, the authority would be required to call for a special election to fill the position with a new candidate. In the event of the candidate receiving enough votes to enter into a run-off election, the remaining candidates with the next two largest vote counts would enter into a run-off.
