Rep. Lynn Smith
District 70

This bill would require a county board of tax assessors to immediately review and conduct a full appraisal of all properties within a nationally declared disaster area to determine if the appraised value of a property still properly reflects the value of the property. If the board determines the appraised value no longer reflects the the value of a property as a result of the disaster, the board will adjust the appraised value accordingly and notify the property owner in the following year's tax assessment. Following a declared disaster, the board will notify all property owners in the area of their right to appeal the appraised value for the coming taxable year.
