Public Service Announcements (PSAs) are an effective way to educate the public about the importance of the 2020 Census and why participation matters. The 2020 Census PSA Toolkit
enables partners and stakeholders to access produced PSAs or create their own using pre-approved messages and talking points.
The toolkit includes videos, radio ads, live-read scripts, fact sheets and brochures. Among these documents, the PSA Scripts for Elected Officials
are especially relevant to GMA member cities. Mayors and councilmembers can customize messages based on different arguments to explain why the 2020 Census matters for their respective communities.
To get started with the PSA Toolkit, follow these four steps:
- Download and read the PSA Guidelines.
- Identify the PSA you are interested in using.
- Review the available languages and audiences for the PSA you are interested in.
- Ensure you are referring to the appropriate usage guidelines that align with the PSA you would like to use, prior to using your PSA.
If a PSA you would like to use is not available for download, please email 2020CensusPSAs@census.gov
with your city's name and contact information to receive an editable version of the PSA.
