Words of advice to share with cities considering the establishment of a youth council
It is very important for the youth involved in the program to “buy-in” to the mission, purpose, and goals of the organization. Set guidelines prior to implementing the program and make certain the adults and youth involved follow them. If interested, participating in the election process for Youth Council is an awesome opportunity to educate youth on the process (and importance) of local, state, and national elections.
Event Description
The Dublin Youth Council held a community-wide Christmas Donation Drive for the Lighthouse Adult Day Care Center and the Stepping Stones Children Advocacy Center. They were able to provide over 200 bags of requested items to both agencies. Each tote was filled with pajamas, toiletries, arts n crafts materials, blankets, cleaning supplies, PPE items, and more.
Dublin also has a Teen Court. THe Dublin-Laurens County Teen Court meets once a month in the Julie S. Driger Courtroom. Teen Volunteers gather to give back to their community. Court sessions are held for first time juvenile offenders and amazing Teens serve as the attorneys, bailiffs, jurors, and court clerks. We are “Making a Difference, One Teen at a Time."
