On Monday, Dec. 2, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta (FHLBank Atlanta) announced the appointment of Larry Hanson, executive director of the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA), as one of the five members to its Affordable Housing Advisory Council. The Council serves an important role in helping FHLBank Atlanta fulfill its affordable housing mission and works closely with the FHLBank Atlanta board of directors to ensure the housing needs of communities within the Bank’s district are met.

“We are extremely excited about Larry’s appointment to this Council,” said GMA President Phil Best. “Affordable workforce housing is an important issue in most of our 538 member cities, and it is directly tied to the ability of cities and local communities to be successful in economic development and meeting the needs of our workforce. This appointment speaks well for GMA and the association’s reputation among influential institutions such as the FHL Bank of Atlanta.”

The other four new advisory board members include: Dewayne Alford, a former Captain of the United States Army and the executive director and CEO of the Housing Authority of Rock Hill in Rock Hill, SC.; Althea Broughton, a partner in the Atlanta-based law firm Arnall Golden Gregory, and the co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group; Brian McLaughlin, the president and CEO of Enterprise Community Development, a leading affordable housing developer and manager in the mid-Atlantic region; and C.
