Georgia’s cities are responsible for remitting a large number of different reports to the state every year. The annual immigration report for the period of December 1, 2017, through November 30, 2018, is one of these annual reports and must be filed with the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts (DOAA) by December 31, 2018.
GMA maintains a publication,
Immigration Mandates on Municipalities, concerning more in depth knowledge of the immigration mandates in Georgia law.
It is imperative that Georgia’s cities compile information to complete these reports now, if you have not already begun to do so. The DOAA
will be reporting non-compliant cities this year to state agencies which provide state funding to local governments. Any failures to complete the report on time very likely will lead to delays, and possibly outright cessation of state funding. If you have any technical questions about filing the report, please contact the DOAA at
Immhelp@audits.ga.gov or visit the DOAA website at
www.audits.ga.gov. Additionally, please refer to the cheat sheet linked above. All questions about the legal requirements for this report should be directed to your city attorney.
