RMEBS Board of Trustees Welcomes New Trustees and Thanks Mayor Palmer

At the annual meeting of the membership of the GMEBS/WCSIF/GIRMA/DC programs held during the 2024 Annual Convention in Savannah, the following trustees were elected to serve on the boards for four-year terms beginning on July 1, 2024:

  • Mr. W.D. “Danny” Palmer, III, Councilmember of Camilla
  • Ms. Betty Cason, Mayor of Carrollton
  • Dr. Clemontine Washington, Mayor Pro Tem of Midway
  • Mr. Sammy Rich, City Manager of Rome
  • Ms. Meg Kelsey, Assistant City Manager of Newnan

Please join the RMEBS Board of Trustees in welcoming our two newest board members, Mayor Betty Cason of Carrollton, and City Manager Sammy Rich of Rome.

Elected as mayor of Carrollton in 2019, Mayor Cason has a long history of public service, including 22 years as Probate Court Judge for Carroll County. A founding member of the Carroll County Mental Health Advocacy Program, she has also held leadership roles in numerous organizations dedicated to community welfare. We look forward to her valuable contributions to our board.

Serving as City Manager of Rome, Georgia, since 1998, Sammy has extensive experience in local and state government, including roles as Assistant City Manager for Rome and County Planner for Carroll County. Sammy is also active in professional organizations such as the Georgia City-County Manager's Association and the International City-County Management Association. His wealth of experience will be an invaluable asset to the RMEB Board of Trustees.

The RMEBS Board of Directors would also like to recognize and thank Mayor Jimmy Palmer for his remarkable 17-year commitment to serving on our Board of Trustees. Jimmy’s dedication and contributions have had a profound impact on the direction and success of our RMEBS programs and services. As his time on our board comes to an end, please join us in acknowledging Mayor Palmer for his remarkable tenure and enduring commitment to our organization.
